Dietary fats are large molecules that need to be broken down before they can be absorbed into the body. They are broken down by enzymes called lipases. That is, lipases play an important role in the digestion of dietary fat. When taken with a meal, Xenical interferes with the activity of these enzymes. This allows about 30% of the fat eaten in the meal to pass through the gut undigested. Therefore, your body cannot store these excess calories as fatty tissue or use them as a source of energy. This helps you to reduce your weight by burning up fat that you are already carrying, maintain your lower weight and minimise any weight regain. Losing even small amounts of weight and keeping it off produces additional health benefits for you, especially when you are at risk for other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Xenical can also help to improve risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. If these are not treated, they could lead to other diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Xenical should be taken in conjunction with a well-balanced calorie-controlled diet and other appropriate measures such as exercise.Active Ingredients:Xenical does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other azo dyes. Pfizer Inc. says it has approved a new weight loss drug, Xenical, to be sold to the UK’s largest-selling patients in 2021.
The prescription drug, marketed as “the Xenical of the Year” in the UK, is the latest in a string of weight loss drugs to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat obesity in the UK.
The new drug, called Mounjaro, is the first FDA-approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is designed to be taken with meals, and is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age.
“It’s an important first step towards a healthier lifestyle and a better quality of life,” said Dr Mark C. Morris, chairman of the Obesity Medicine and Health Sciences Research Centre, University of London. “The new Xenical has a positive impact on health and should be an important first step to help the UK’s leading weight loss program.”
Dr Morris said that the decision was taken with a view to ensure that the new drug is available to treat obesity in the UK.
Mounjaro was developed by and is an oral diabetes drug that is taken once daily.
It is not currently approved for use by adults over 18 years of age.
The weight loss benefits of Mounjaro were supported by data from a small pilot study in which the drug was shown to reduce body mass index (BMI) by a mean of 1.2 kg per body weight, compared to placebo.
The study’s findings, published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, showed that patients taking the drug lost an average of 5.9 pounds after 12 weeks.
The data showed that patients who took Mounjaro lost an average of 9.5 pounds (2.5kg) and those who took a placebo lost an average of 5.8 pounds (2.1kg).
Professor Alan G. McConney, head of the Centre for Diabetes Research at the University of Manchester, said that although Mounjaro was “very modest in weight loss”, it was still important to see a change in treatment.
“We wanted to see if Mounjaro would be effective, and we wanted to see how long it would take for the drug to take effect,” he said.
“We’ve been looking into other potential drug candidates that could have a beneficial effect on obesity. We don’t have sufficient data yet to know how long these results would last.”
The research team recruited 27 patients, who completed a questionnaire and then met with a dietitian before the study began.
Xenical (orlistat) is an innovative weight loss medication that aids individuals in managing obesity by inhibiting the absorption of dietary fats in the intestine. Obesity is a significant health concern that increases the risk of various conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Xenical offers a unique approach to weight management by preventing the breakdown and absorption of about 30% of the fat consumed in a meal, which is then excreted from the body. This reduction in fat absorption helps lower overall caloric intake, making it easier for individuals to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. When combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise, Xenical can significantly improve weight loss outcomes and reduce obesity-related health risks. It is a valuable tool for those struggling with weight management, providing support and efficacy in achieving long-term weight loss goals.
